The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Fire Risk Mitigation

 An interactive wildfire risk map was created as part of the pilot programme in Turkey, using AI and machine learning algorithms, with input from the global community of experts. This map uses a variety of data sources, including historical, meteorological, and geographic data, to create models based on optimal resource allocation.


The first effective application in Turkey resulted in an 80% accuracy rate in detecting wildfire outbreaks 24 hours in advance. This information provides authorities with a critical window for preemptive preparation and response. The success of this pilot revealed how effective artificial intelligence can be in assisting authorities in saving lives, protecting property, preserving the environment, and dramatically reducing wildfire damage.

Along with AI, the community is investigating the incorporation of other technology sectors, such as drones, which are vital in wildfire management.

This programme serves as a showcase for cutting-edge solutions from technology businesses and innovators. It includes a diverse set of contributions, such as satellite and earth observation data relevant to wildfires, data and AI firms specialising in climate and wildfire modelling, and companies directly and indirectly impacted by wildfires in their supply chains and business models.
